Living the High Life

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

This past week us Woollys took root at the Carlyle on Wilshire. The residences are very beautiful, but were definitely lacking one key ingredient – Woolly Pockets! So without further ado we bid adieux to some glass vases & ushered in our favorite gal pals, Lana & Tina. The party kicked off & everyone had a blast. We even saw Rihanna in the lobby, but she didn’t come to our suite – she must have gotten lost, weird?!

We did three awesome installations in the condo that really complemented their spaces – they looked like beautiful living paintings! Stephanie is clearly a Woolly genius. Our friend Gilly hooked us up with some stunning Islands too. It has to be said that no Woolly event is complete without our favorite photog, Suthi Picotte! This time she brought a new friend, Star (whose name speaks to her abilities, for sure!). We took some awesome photos that we’ll be unveiling soon. In the meantime, we decided to post some pictures from our time spent at this beautiful place.

Woohoo! We planted a Woolly School Garden at Micheltorena Street School last week! ABC Channel 7 News showed up and shot a great video of the installation, including an interview of Miguel and Principal Furfari!

Silverlake on Saturday

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Sara & I have more in common than just our love for Pockets – we also share a love for coffee!!

Thankfully, we can enjoy our 2 favorite things just around the block from us at Gilly’s & Intelligentsia! These neighboring shops make for the perfect Saturday in Silverlake with a delightful leisurely cup o’ joe & a beautiful peruse through the planted Island arrangements. Luckily, Sara & I always find time in our week for this very special tête-à-tête! ;)

Check out our good friends Gilly, his dog Peg & their amazing store!

A Woolly Debut at RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

A discerning nose indeed! (image via Daily Mail)

This week London is celebrating gardening, plants and all that blooms at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show. It’s hardly an exaggeration to call this the Super Bowl, err World Cup of flowers! Gardens of all varieties are on display, and I was really impressed by The Daily Telegraph’s award winning garden!

We’re so excited and proud that our woolly friend Felicity of Garden Beet has installed some gorgeous Living Walls at the show using Woolly Pockets! The garden, by Stephen Myburgh Designs, has a playful gypsy theme, with his striking hanging copper swings as a central focal point.

The pockets create a vivid and striking contrast for the swings, while using the least amount of space. We wish we could be there to see it in person! What an awesome garden! We hope you’re enjoying your garden. You never know when the Queen will stop by! Happy Gardening!

A Living Backdrop

Monday, April 19th, 2010

One of the best things about Woolly Pockets are their versatility. It’s great to see people finding new and exciting uses to fit their needs and goals. Here’s a case in point:

In Historic Williamsburg, Virginia, a newly planted Vertical Garden now lives in an 85 year old boutique department store, Binns of Williamsburg! Tom writes to us:

“We have started to photograph customers in front of the wall in the gowns they are considering and buying. It makes a great backdrop.”

What a Woolly idea! Thanks Tom! If you find yourself in Williamsburg this spring, be sure to visit Binns and the outdoor farmers market taking place in front of their store!
