It's not rocket science, it's Pocket Science!
In a regular pot, plants tend to get root bound, coiling inwards and eventually strangling themselves. Steve’s breathable sides allow excess moisture to evaporate. Letting plants aerate helps them to breath and grow strong, healthy roots.
2. MOISTURE BARRIER
Meadow has a moisture barrier that wraps all the way across the bottom and up the sides. This ensures floors do not get wet. It also creates a reservoir of water – much like a self-watering container – that allows plants to drink at their leisure. The soil stays moist for a longer period of time, and keeps plants healthier and happier. The barrier also conserves water and keeps soil’s nutrition inside the Pocket.
3. SMART WATERING
The moisture barrier also creates a reservoir of water – much like a self-watering container – that allows plants to drink at their leisure. The soil stays moist for a longer period of time, and keeps plants healthier and happier. The barrier also conserves water and keeps soil’s nutrition inside the Pocket.

How to Assemble, Plant & Water Meadow?
Tuck your plants into a cozy bed: Using Meadow is Easy!
Everything that you need to assemble Meadow is included, just add soil, plants, water and love!
Let’s Get Together
1. Unfold Meadow, set up the frame and slide the socks (provided) on to all four feet of the frame.
2. Place the frame inside and attach snugly using Velcro fasteners.
3. Put your Meadow in a place that gets the perfect amount of sunlight for the plants that you have chosen. It’s easier to move Meadow around before it’s planted.
We recommend a using high-quality indoor potting soil for all indoor plantings. If planting edibles, try organic edible soil. For outdoors, a high-quality outdoor potting soil will do the trick.
1. Fill Meadow three quarters of the way up with soil.
2. Carefully take plants out of their containers and massage the root balls a bit. This allows plants’ roots to open up. Plant your plants directly into Meadow. Make sure to entirely cover the roots.
3. Add or remove soil as necessary. Soil should be level with the top of Meadow.
4. Once you've finished planting, give the little plant family some water.
Smart Watering: With Meadow, Watering Just the Right Amount is Easy
Water Meadow’s plants directly; shy away from the edges to prevent Meadow’s sides from getting wet.
What Kind of Water, How Much & How Often?
We recommend watering Meadow with filtered water, especially when watering indoors. The amount of water necessary for plants to thrive varies, so, check each plants’ watering requirements. Follow these guidelines to water your Meadow.
Lil’ Meadow: 2-3 gallons
Meadow: 9-12 gallons
Deep Meadow: 10-14 gallons
Use these guidelines as a jumping off point and assess how well the plants are doing, adjust watering accordingly. Remember, edibles need to be watered everyday.
If you over-water Meadow, small beads of water appear on the side of your Pocket. This is an immediate indicator to stop watering. Meadow’s sides are breathable so any excess moisture will evaporate out of the side of the Pocket - this keeps both you and the plants happier!
Meadows on the Move
If you need to move your planted meadow, shimmy your Meadow onto a piece of plywood larger than the Meadow, starting with a corner. Once the plywood is under the Meadow, pick up the plywood and move to its new home!
When it Rains, It Pours
If you create a living roof or outdoor garden using Meadow, be sure to note when it rains. In the event of heavy rain, Meadow releases excess water through the top breathable portion of its sides to prevent flooding. Once the rain stops, excess moisture also evaporates through the breathable sides. Be sure to allow enough time before you water next.
Create a Modular Garden
Meadows love to play garden – indoors and out. Line up any number of Lil’ Meadows, Meadows, and Deep Meadows side by side to create a modular garden of any size on any horizontal surface. We recommend roof-decks, patios and living room floors!
